CB005.2.12.012 Joint initiatives for the conservation of zonal European red wood ants facing the danger of extinction

Final press-conferences

„Europe and We” Association, Pomorie, Republic of Bulgaria has the pleasure to inform you that within the project CB005.2.12.012 “Joint initiatives for the conservation of zonal European red wood ants facing the danger of extinction” on 29.10.2020 in Malko Tarnovo, Burgas district was held a final press-conference during which were presented the results from the project implementation.

Over 25 representatives of the competent institutions and stakeholders from both sides of the borders took part in the event. During the event were presented and discussed the results of the implemented studies on both sides of the border, and also the opportunities and threats in front of the European red wood ants in Strandzha region. It was presented developed under the project documentary movie, popularizing the importance of the European red wood ants. Proposals for the conservation programme, developed by the Bulgarian and Turkish scientific teams were presented, joint problems and solutions were discussed, related with biodiversity conservation and protection of common natural resources and multiplication of the results of the implemented activities. Concluded within the project Memorandum for cooperation was also presented.

Project CB005.2.12.012 “Joint initiatives for the conservation of the European red forest ant from use” aims to determine the status of the European red wood ants in the cross-border area by identifying the number and distribution of nests and as a result a joint action plan with a proposal for a conservation program to be developed. The project lasts for 15 months and is implemented in partnership by the “Europe and We” Association and DAYKO – Foundation for Environmental Protection, Republic of Turkey, funded by the cross-border program INTERREG-IPA Bulgaria – Turkey CCI No 2014TC16I5CB005.
