About the program

Interreg – IPA Bulgaria – Turkey 2014-2020 is a cross-border cooperation program funded by the European Union under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance.

The overall strategic goal of the regional cooperation between Bulgaria and Turkey, invested in the implementation of the program is to  strengthen the capacity for cross-border cooperation between Bulgaria and Turkey in the field of nature protection and sustainable tourism development, which will strengthen territorial cohesion in Europe.

The eligible region under the program covers the districts of Burgas, Yambol and Haskovo for the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria and the provinces of Edirne and Kirklareli on the territory of the Republic of Turkey.

The total amount of funds under it amounts to EUR 29,642,896.

The program has 3 priority axes:

– Environment

– Sustainable tourism

– Technical support

Beneficiaries can be legal entities registered in the eligible region, and should be non-profit organizations – local, regional and national authorities; national and regional agencies; nature park administrations, local / regional forest directorates; cultural institutions; community centers, NGOs; educational institutions – universities, schools, colleges and libraries; Euroregions; associations of two or more of the institutions / organizations listed above.

The Managing Authority of the Program is the Directorate for Territorial Cooperation Management in the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works of the Republic of Bulgaria, and the Ministry of European Affairs of the Republic of Turkey performs the functions of a National Authority.
